Anti Gravity Treadmill

Alter G Anti Gravity Treadmill

What is an AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill®?

The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill is a rehabilitation treadmill. It uses a lifting effect to reduce stress and impact on injuries and joints in the lower body. It is ideal for physical therapy after sports injuries, knee and hip replacement or stroke. It significantly enhances recovery, reduces the risk of re-injury and can be used for much more than just walking or running. It is also used to incorporate weight-bearing exercise into fitness and weight loss routines.

Does the AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill® work?

The Anti-Gravity Treadmill was invented by NASA because astronauts on the International Space Station have to exercise for hours each day to combat the loss of bone mass and muscle in microgravity.

The Alter G Anti-Gravity Treadmill uses air pressure to help unweight the patient. This allows the lower body to be enclosed and supported by the air pressure. ... Once the machine has calibrated to the individual, the body support percentage can be adjusted as desired.

What is the benefit of the AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill® ?

The anti gravity treadmill reduces the load on the body by regulating air in a pressure-controlled compartment.

The AlterG treadmill provides patients with a painless, controlled, low-weight bearing form of exercise in the early stages of recovery. Studies have shown that returning to motion as early as possible can help reduce muscle atrophy, decrease swelling, and improve patient results post-surgery or injury.

What is the AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill® used to treat?

The AlterG® treadmill is a fantastic treatment option for a variety of patients, including:

  • Following surgery on your ankle, knee or hip
  • Older patients requiring strengthening and conditioning rehabilitation
  • Gait training for neurological patients
  • Patients unable to walk/run due to the pain of arthritis of the knee or hip
  • Patients participating in a weight-loss program, or who are considering bariatric surgery

How can I benefit from using the AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill® ?

You may benefit from sessions on the AlterG® treadmill if you experience pain or stiffness in your joints on weight bearing, need to build strength following an operation, or want to enhance your sports performance.

Cancer patients who are feeling fatigued after treatment may also find it beneficial as a way to rebuild muscle strength, thanks to the body weight reduction technology.

The AlterG® can also give a boost of confidence if you have a long-term condition that has prevented you from walking or running with ease.

How much does a session on the AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill® cost?
