ALL colours - Revlite™ Professional Laser Tattoo Removal
How does the Revlite™ Work?
The Revlite™ Laser produces rapid, short pulse widths of energy – this limits the healthy skin’s exposure to heat which makes treatments safe and fast. The resulting effect on the ink is powerful vibration, shattering the target molecules. The body then disposes of these fragments via its immune system.
Tattoo colours are of great significance to overall treatment success. Here at 'The Laser & Skin Clinic' we have the advanced technology to treat ALL colours, whether the tattoo be; Amatuer, Professional, Cosmetic or Traumatic.
- Black, brown, green and blue respond very well to 1064nm laser treatment acoustic effects
- Red and Yellow inks are destroyed by the acoustal effect of 532nm
- Sky blue and purple responds to 585nm
- Green responds to 650nm
What do you mean by Amatuer, Professional, Cosmetic or Traumatic.?
Amateur: in most cases, amatuer tattoos respond more quickly and readily than professional tattoos. Removal can be accomplished in approximately three fewer treatments than professional tattoos. Exceptions are those cases in which the ink has been deposited in the subcutaneous tissue. Your practitioner will advise you on this.
Professional: Professional tattoos usually have an even distribution with an even depth of placement. Most of the ink is in the dermis (second layer of skin) with a little in the subcutaneous tissue. Since more ink is used in professional tattoos; more treatments are needed to remove them.
Cosmetic: such as lip, eyebrow and eyeliner, are usually made of iron-based inks. These inks may oxidize or blacken upon laser impact. Test sites should always be performed on cosmetic tattoos prior to treatment. Oxidized tattoos will require a number of treatments before improvement can be seen. Protective eyewear is essential when treating near the eyes, and this will be provided by the clinic.
Traumatic: occur when substances, such as carbon or gunpowder are accidentally introduced into the skin. They can usually be removed in one or two treatment sessions.
Does the Revlite™Laser hurt?
The feeling of each short pulse is usually described as feeling like the ‘snap’ of a rubberband on the skin. Obviously larger tattoos will require more pulses and so you’ll be experiencing this for longer, but
we apply a topical cream regardless of the size of your tattoo – this helps to ‘numb’ the target area beforehand.
The clinical endpoint of treatment is epidermal (top layer of skin) whitening followed by slight edema (swelling). Purpura (bruising) or pinpoint bleeding can be experienced during treatment. Hypo and hyper pigmentation is also a common side effect, but your practitioner will explain everything with you at consultation and test patch appointments.
How many sessions will I need?
Your tattoo will require multiple sessions before it’s fully removed. The amount of sessions or treatments will depend on how large your tattoo is, what sort of ink has been used, colour, and the length of time between your sessions. The location of the tattoo also determines the success and number of treatments. The further the tattoo is away from the heart, the more treatments may be required.
As a rough guide a ‘professional’ tattoo will need between 6 and 10 sessions whereas an ‘amateur’ tattoo might only require between 3 and 6.
It’s always best to come and visit for a free consultation first – we’ll be able to give you a more accurate idea of the number of sessions required. Our pricing for each session is below.
